Sonia slams Mulayam-Kalyan tie-up

“For some people secularism is just a means to grab power and for that they do not hesitate to join hands with those who failed to abide by the affidavit given to the court,” Sonia said at an election rally at Rampur apparently referring to the affidavit given by Kalyan Singh to the Supreme Court to protect the disputed structure at Ayodhya.

Sonia also blasted the Mayawati government in UP for what she alleged “misusing” the Central funds provided to the state for development.

“The state government has not properly utilised the funds given to it by the Centre,” she alleged holding the BSP government responsible for the backwardness of the state.
Sonia Gandhi rejected the BSP supremo Mayawati’s allegation that the Centre had not provided funds to Uttar Pradesh. The Congress chief decried the BJP for trying to “divide  society” along communal lines to grab power.

“Kath ki handiya mein baar-baar pakwan nahin banta (one can not prepare food in an utensil made of wood twice),” she said adding that the people of the country had come to know the true designs of such forces.
