Govt to centralise PU admissions

Primary and Secondary Education Minister Vishweshwar Hegde Kageri, at a press meet here on Tuesday, said that it had come to the notice of the Government that some private colleges in the State were exploiting students by extorting donation in different forms and twisting rules to give admissions to the undeserved students. It has been doing injustice to the eligible students from poor families.

Kageri said, according to the new system, a centralised admission cell would carry out admissions for all PU colleges in the State.

The Department of Education will launch a new programme, Sarakari Shaleyalli Navu Nivu (We and you in government school), on July 5. All  elected representatives – from GP member to MP, officials and parents would discuss steps to improve quality of education in government schools.
