Teens kill auto driver after row

Devaraj (25) was a resident of Kamalanagar.   Around 11 am, Devaraj and his friends, Harikrishna and Mohan, were walking in the ground where a group of boys were playing cricket. Mohan got into an argument with the boys and in a fit of anger slapped one of them.

Devaraj and his friends were leaving the ground when the boys began chasing them. The auto driver and his friends began running towards Kirloskar Colony, when five of the boys --- Rajesh, Arun, Balu, Vijay Patil and Pawan managed to catch up with Devaraj. As four of them held him, Rajesh got hold of a sharp instrument and stabbed Devaraj on his chest.

Bleeding profusely, Devaraj collapsed as his assailants fled. With the help of passersby, his friend Mohan took him to nearby Panacea hospital, but the doctors declared him brought dead.

Police have detained Pawan, Rajesh, Arun, Balu and Vijay Patil of Basaveshwaranagar and are questioning them.

Student found dead

Sunidhi (16), a college student, was found dead, hanging at her house in Subramanyanagar area on Tuesday. She had recently enrolled for PU at a college in Malleswaram and was staying with her grandparents for the last one month.

 Police said she hanged herself from the ceiling fan using a saree, minutes after her grandmother went to a neighbour’s house. Her relatives told the police that Sunidhi was expecting more than 95 per cent in the SSLC examinations, but  could manage only 85 per cent. This could have depressed her.
