Shocking similarity in death of siblings

Except for the shocking similarity with his elder brother’s death just 11 months ago.
Pradeep Kumar, 26, died while he was engaged in maintenance work in an area under the Vattiyoorkavu electrical section in the city here.

He, along with five other co-workers, had begun work after removing the fuse of the transformer and hanging it over at a wayside shop.

However, sources say that two workers of a different section arrived and put the fuse on, causing the electrocution of Pradeep who was perched atop the electric post.
He was declared dead at the Medical College Hospital later. The others who were watching from below were saved.

Pradeep’s elder brother Dileep Kumar, also a contract worker of Kerala State Electricity Board, had died in similar fashion on June 30 last year while engaged in electrical maintenance work.

Following this, Pradeep had forecast that he too would meet the same fate as contract workers were made to take up all the dangerous jobs in the Kerala State Electricity Board.

Local people on Wednesday blocked the main road at Vattiyoorkavu in front of the Kerala State Electricity Board  office while Pradeep’s body was being taken for cremation.
They demanded that the guilty be punished and compensation given to Pradeep’s grandmother who is his only surviving close relative.

The Kerala State Electricity Board has ordered a thorough inquiry into the incident and also suspended two employees from service.
