Now they can get the certificates from Primary Health Centres, in case of glaring degree of disability.
Addressing the reporters on Thursday at Kote hall, he said that the doctors at the PHCs can give the certificates for permanent physical disabilities. The persons suffering from disabilities such as blindness, deafness etc will have to go before the three person medical board.
He said that 90 per cent of the identified disabled persons have been given with the identity cards. The remaining will be given with the cards soon. The income limit of Rs 6,000 fixed to avail the disability allowance has been revised to Rs 12,000 per annum for rural areas and Rs 17,000 for urban areas.
Deputy Commissioner K M Chandregowda, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) N Krishnappa, Women and Child Welfare Deputy Director Vijayalakshmi Shenoy and others were present at the meet.
