SIT asked to finish Modi probe in five months

Last Updated 30 July 2009, 19:39 IST

A bench headed by Justice Altamas Kabir directed the SIT to complete its investigations and file the probe report by December 31. The apex court on April 27 had asked the court-appointed Special Investigation Team to look into the allegations by the wife of Jakia Nasim Ahesan, the wife of the murdered former Congress parliamentarian Ehsan Jaffri.

Advocate Prashant Bhushan, who is the amicus curie in the case, submitted the allegation by Jakia that the CM, ministers in his cabinet, MLAs (during 2002), VHP functionaries, the then Gujarat police chief and other police officers were involved in the state-wide riots.

‘Get sacked for abusive behaviour’

An employee can be sacked if he uses abusive language against his superior even if he had been assigned work which is not part of his original job, the Supreme Court has ruled, reports PTI from New Delhi.

A bench of Justices Tarun Chatterjee and H S Bedi passed the ruling while upholding an appeal filed by Kolkota-based Biecco Lawrie Ltd, which had sacked one of its employees Provash Chandra Mondal more than 24 years ago.
