Addressing a programme organised by Civic Bangalore on BBMP’s GPMS, R Sri Kumar, Vigilance Commissioner of the Central Vigilance Commission said the GPMS was brought out by the Indian Centre for Social Transformation (ICST) and Karnataka State Police Housing Corporation. He said the GPMS has been designed in such a way that people can lodge their complaints, give suggestions and upload photographs.

The founder trustee of the ICST, Raja Seevan, said the Centre has imparted training to Palike employees and engineers to use the website to bring more transparency in the functioning of the Palike.

Some social activists raised doubts about the utility of the website when the desired information was not found due to the lack of coordination between various wings of the Palike. One of the complaints came from social activist Veeresh, who said he could not find details of asphalting of road from RR Nagar to Uttarahalli, which was a Rs eight-crore project. To this, Sri Kumar advised that complaints such as these could also be lodged through the portal.

Talking about the shortcomings in the system, Palike special commissioner K R Niranjan said a coordination committee led by the advisor to the chief minister on urban affairs A Ravindra has been constituted to bridge the gap between various wings of the Palike. People can track the projects by visiting http:// www.vigeyegpms.in/BBMP.
