Speaking to the media persons on Saturday, he said the MCC has been evicting the street vendors not with an intention to beautify the city, but for communal reasons. The RSS backed MCC wants to evict the street vendors as 75 per cent of the traders belong to Muslim community. MCC has intended to destablise the community by troubling their source of livelihood, he said.

He said nowhere in the State including the State capital eviction drive of this sort is carried out. Despite the Supreme Court ordering the State government to form a specific policy in favour of the street vendors, it is disappointing that no such policies have been formed and the MCC is taking advantage of the situation.

Informing the plan of action laid down by the Committee backed by the JD(S) and AICTU, he said complaint will be submitted in this regard to the Governor and the Home Minister. “We will also plan on going to the High Court in case of necessity,” he said.
