Stay away from land, mines: BJP leader tells young netas

Last Updated 19 June 2011, 19:00 IST

Addressing the BJP Yuva Morcha at the South India office-bearers’ meet, he said there is a need to build a ‘moral BJP party’ in the State to gain people’s confidence. “The youth must revamp the political parties and its working system in the country. Every party worker must have a legitimate source of income and must take an oath against giving or taking bribes. The anger that dwells within today’s generation must be utilised for a movement in the interest of the country,” he said.

Vaman Acharya further said that leaders are not born by displaying flex banners across a city but by reaching out to people. “If anyone wants to be a leader, he or she must either join panchayat raj or a co-operative society to work towards the development of the downtrodden instead of pasting their pictures across the streets.”

Talking about the movement against corruption, he said civil society’s fight for the Jan Lokpal Bill needs a strong political backing from different organisations.

To support the anti-corruption drive, BJP is all set to assemble at the Ramlila Grounds in Delhi for a nationwide agitation “Sansadh Chalo” on August 9. More than two lakh BJP workers across the country are expected to participate in this protest.

National vice president of BJP Yuva Morcha, Poonam Mahajan said Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa was performing well. When asked for her reaction to the series of corruption charges faced by Yeddyurappa, she said she was not aware of the corruption in the State and added: “I respect Yeddyurappa very much. Under his leadership, there is a lot of development work in Karnataka.”
