Jagdish, head of a four generation jewellery showroom Vummidi Bangaree Jewellers in Chennai says that their showroom specialises in anklets, rings, bangles and neckpieces made of gold, silver, precious gems and stones.

"The 'annakair', a  hip chain, made of precious gems and stones is quite popular among customers. Adjustable bangles, are another offering by the store with a USP that they can be easily expanded and so can be worn after the baby's grown up," he says.
With a smooth finish and minus any kind of sharp projections, each piece has been crafted keeping in mind the soft and fragile skin of the babies.

Madhumati, who runs a retail chain of a jewellery brand called Rasvihar in Chennai says that the "their jewellery collection is completely nickel-free and safe for the sensitive skin of babies and kids."

Another very unique feature that these jewellery brands offer is the amulet. Also called as a 'Nazariya',it is used to ward off evil spirits. Shimmer Jewels, a leading jewellery brand in Delhi is another such store that offers a wide range of these amulets or 'raksha kawachs'.
