According to sources, these lower-rung officers were working in the offices of deputy secretaries to the chief minister, the office of the CM’s Relief Fund and the office of the political secretary to the CM among others.

The relieving orders to the employees were issued on Saturday last and Monday, the sources said. Initially, as many as 18 employees had come under scanner of the higher-ups in the CM secretariat for leaking official information.

The employees were constantly monitored for the last two weeks, the sources added.

Five to six employees have been given the benefit of doubt. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa has gone on record several times that he was aware that the employees of his own secretariat were passing on information to the Opposition.
