Karnataka mulls ban on KFD

"We are collecting more information on the activities of KFD. The issue of imposing a ban on it will be discussed with the chief minister and a decision will be taken later," Home Minister R Ashoka told reporters here.

Ashoka had yesterday announced the arrest of six KFD activists in connection with the recent kidnap and murder of two college students of Hunsur in Mysore district.


Meanwhile, the ruling BJP urged its government to ban KFD and announced it would stage a protest in the city tomorrow to press for its demand.

State unit media in-charge S Prakash and MLA Vijayakumar criticised KFD activists for the killing of the two students and asked the government to punish those who extended financial support to the forum.

Minister for Higher Education V S Acharya said the activities of KFD, which has come under police scanner, came up for discussion at today's cabinet meeting.He, however, did not elaborate.
