Cops crack book store theft case in a matter of few hours

One among the accused is an employee of the shop, while another had left the job a month ago.

Vinod, 18 years, employee and Subhash, 17 years, ex-employee are the two who had escaped with Rs 2.51 lakh cash from Sri Mysore Book Store on Narayana Shastri Road.

The duo had allegedly decamped with the amount on Wednesday night.
When the shop was closed around 8.30 pm, Vinod, who already had a plan, purposefully didn’t bolt the backdoor properly.

He along with another accused, gained entry into the shop later and made away with the money.

The shopkeeper’s son who came to the shop after sometime to collect cash, as is the routine, was taken aback when he couldn’t open the front door. The accused at the time had bolted the door from inside.

He brought the matter to the notice of Devaraja Police. The investigators who acted swiftly, smelled the role of those well aware of the shop, after noting that there was no forced entry into the premises.

Vinod and Subhash who had by then shared the money, were resting at their houses when the police knocked on their doors. They later confessed to the act during investigation.

Ex-MLA’s son killed

A 30-year-old man was killed on the spot while another suffered injuries, when a two-wheeler they were travelling on, was hit allegedly by a KSRTC bus near Harohalli gate in the city on the early hours of Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Kumar son of former MLA late Cheluvaiah, of H D Kote. Vinod, is the pillion rider who has suffered fracture in both his legs.

Kumar’s niece’s marriage was scheduled at a choultry in Mysore on June 23.

He along with his relative Vinod was travelling back to native to bring relatives to the city in a bus arranged to pick and drop, when the incident occurred around 6 am.
Jayapura Police have registered a case.

Man kills self

A private transport operator has committed suicide allegedly by hanging himself at his house in Vidyaranyapuram in the city on Thursday.

The deceased has been identified as Sethu Madhav, of second main, sixth cross, Vidyaranyapuram.

He was the owner of Srikanteshwara bus, that shuttles between Mysore and Nagamangala. His wife had gone out of station, and son to college.

The incident came to light when his son returned home only to find his father hanging from the ceiling in the dining hall.

The reason behind his extreme step is yet to be ascertained.

Vidyaranyapuram Police have registered a case.
