It was said that a small drain was constructed while developing the road in the region six years ago.

Later, the drain was raised by filling soil. As the region lies between two hillocks, water flow is more during monsoon and the drain gets filled with silt soon. The farm land situated adjacent to the drain gets inundated every year.

Gopalakrishna, whose farm land has been inundated said: “With the water entering my plantation, I have lost arecanut plants in one acre land. I have been fighting for justice for the last six months. The road was developed under Zilla Panchayat fund.

However, the road has to be maintained by the Gram Panchayat. I have complained to the Gram Panchayat several times. But, all in vain.”

In fact, Tahsildar had visited the spot three years ago and asked the Gram Panchayat to carry out the desilting of the drain. However, the drain has not been desilted so far.
