<p>Briefing reporters after the Cabinet meeting, Higher Education Minister V S Acharya said Rs 20 crore has been sanctioned for setting up the Authority in Shimoga under the chairmanship of Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa. <br /><br />A bill to provide statutory sanction to the authority was cleared by the Cabinet on Thursday, which will be tabled in the next Legislature Session.<br /><br />So far, the State government has released half of the amount of the Rs 20 crore announced in the 2010-11 budget. Some of the major works to be taken up are, protection of heritage temples in the three districts; protection and conservation of forts in the Western Ghats ranges; development of ‘Sharana Kshetras,’ promotion of waterfalls, development of Neenasam in Heggodu, etc.<br /></p>
