Bill not ready: Moily

Last Updated 24 June 2011, 19:17 IST

“The government has taken some suggestions from a section of civil societies. After getting feedback from political parties and the chief ministers, the government would start drafting the bill,” Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily told reporters here.

The government has convened an all-party meeting on July 3 in Delhi to discuss the issue. It had already written to all chief ministers seeking their suggestions for  the proposed bill.

He said both versions of the draft bill—one prepared by government representatives and the other by Anna Hazare-led civil society—“could” be placed before political parties.

He agreed to suggestions that the government and the Hazare team could interact on the draft bill issue through e-mails.

After receiving feedback from political parties, the Law Ministry will start drafting the bill and send it to various ministries for consultation before placing it before the Union Cabinet, Moily said.
