After going through a box-office low for a couple of years, Vishal dubs this achievement as an important phase in his career.

Now after shedding his action hero image, he proved that he is a fine performer as well.
Vishal is all praises for Bala, the director of Avan Ivan. Since Bala, is known to be quite choosy about his cast, Vishal considers this opportunity as something special. And one that he’s really proud of. “I was looking out for  a role that would let me prove myself as an actor. It was an awesome experience to work with such a dedicated director. And also, it was quite difficult to sport different looks in the movie,” he says. The comedy film sees him play the role of squint-eyed thief. The film also stars Arya, Janani Iyer, Madhu Shalini among others.

The aspiring actor has the credit of giving three consecutive successes when he kick-started his acting career as a hero in 2004 with Chellamae, Sandakozhi, and Thimiru.
Although he is popular as an action hero, he doesn’t want to stick to any particular
image.

“I have seen many ups and downs in my journey thus far. Each film was a good experience for me. And every project was quite challenging. I don’t want to confine myself to any specific genre,” says Vishal who aspires to play a supernatural hero, on the lines of ‘Superman’ and ‘Spiderman’.

Among all the Indian actors, Vishal is fond of Nana Patekar. “Nana Patekar is my favourite actor. I want to do the characters which Nana has portrayed. His mannerism and assimilation into every character is amazing. I would be happy if I get a chance to work with him,” says Vishal who spends his spare time watching English movies.

The energetic actor has signed up to play the role of a cop in two films. He is acting in Pattathu Yaanai and Prabhakaran, directed by Boopathy Pandian and Prabhu Deva respectively. About Bangalore, he says that he is not new to the City. “Bangalore is my father’s hometown. So, I have been here many a time. I have many fond memories associated with the City. Whenever I come here, I never miss a chance  to hop into ‘Corner House’,” he signs off.
