Not even half the fun

The fools and crooks of Dhamaal are on their second outing. But Double Dhamaal is not even half-Dhamaal.

While Sanjay Dutt reinvents his con-self, his old foes (Arshad Warsi, Riteish Deshmukh, Aashish Choudhary and Jaaved Jaffrey) gleefully compete for the ‘best clown’ title. The foursome spoofs actors and movies (with Sanjeev Kumar and Dabangg being the bigger casualties), but the humour remains consistently below the belt.

The four cry revenge after Dutt cheats them and scoots with a big loot. Now, it’s impersonation time. Over to fake boobs, bunny teeth, afros and turbans.

While the men revel in mimicry, Mallika Sherawat and Kangana Ranaut take turns to display their legs and lack of acting skills.

Mallika is relatively tolerable as she wisely limits her histrionics to hips. So you
have a Jalebi bai with some decent gyrations. Oh yes, she also offers a fleeting bikini shot.
On the other hand, Kangana gives a decibel-breaking performance and packs a ‘shriek’ in every line.

At some point of time, the buffoonery shifts to Macau. There is even a scene where a lovelorn gorilla does an Emraan Hashmi on fake gorilla (Aashish) as bheege hont tere plays in the background. The result: Aashish’s lips get a botox lift. There are a few giggles, but not enough to make up for the yawns. Director Indra Kumar also threatens a third part. Help!
