Man jumps into Cauvery, ends life

Khalim and his wife, Parveen Taj had come to see their children, Sheikh Fareed and Mohammad Tabreez, who are studying in the Muslim Residential School here.

The couple got down at the town bus stand and started walking towards the south bridge. Khalim on the pretext of talking on his cell phone, let his wife walk ahead and jumped to his death.

The police informed that reason for his extreme step is still unknown. A wailing Parveen said there had been no fights between the couple. PSI Jagadish has registered a case.

Traffic disrupted

Hearing about the suicide a huge crowd  gathered on both the bridges of the Mysore- Bangalore highway. Traffic movement was disrupted as people also got down from the vehicles to see the  body, causing a traffic jam on the highway for almost half an hour.

Police had to intervene and ease the traffic congestion.
