You are cheating court: HC to Palike

“ You are cheating the Court. It is nothing but wasting time. If you don’t do anything, we know what to do,” the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh said while hearing a public interest litigation by the Five-Year Law Course Advocates’ Association.

The stricture came when the Court noted that vital details such as the location and number of illegal structures cleared were not mentioned in the affidavit filed by the Palike. The civic body, in its affidavit, had claimed that it had cleared the encroachments over the stormwater drains in the City.

The Bench sought to know whether its earlier order to clear large encroachments had been implemented.

The BBMP was directed to file an affidavit on the action taken to clear the encroachments, in a week.
