He told reporters at a function here on Sunday that increasing prices of crude oil was inevitable as they are imported. “But, the State government can act responsibily and reduce the sales tax and VAT. Despite the Centre bearing 80 per cent of the cost, general public is burdered with the price rise,” he regretted.

On the Jan Lokpal Bill, he said social activist Anna Hazare’s team was not co-operating with the Centre. Their demands are unconvincing and delaying the negotiation in drafting the anti-corruption bill, he said.

On the controversy over truth test gauntlet between Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa and JD(S) State president H D Kumaraswamy, Moily said: “Lord Manjunath will himself run away if these leaders go there.”
