Defining the concept of hospitality

In its 11th year, the expo saw over 200 companies from across the world giving a taste of the latest products, services and technologies for the hospitality industry.

Making it an ideal platform for buyers, traders and students who are eager to join the hospitality sector,

Raghu Pillai, one of the organisers said, “We have always aimed at giving a complete view of everything one may need in the business. And Bangalore being an emerging sector in the hospitality arena, we found it an ideal place to host the expo.”

With nearly 250 stalls, the expo saw a wide array of products which ranged from crockery, new baking equipment, bed linens, decorative items and many more stalls.

The highlights for this year, however, were an Italian bakery equipment and a three-dimensional gaming console called Sacona Entertainment, which was invented in Bangalore.

“We are yet to take the product abroad and market  it there. For now, we have
introduced it to the Indian market and we feel its an apt entertainer for any resort, airport or a mall,” said a representative from Sacona Entertainment. The expo also showcased seminars on spa and wellness, a wine appreciation forum and a live cooking demonstration.

Eminent chefs and traders from the City came together and held sessions on the
authenticity of using key ingredients in cuisines, the dynamics of destination resorts and future of the industry.

Also part of the expo was ‘The Chef Lounge’. Hosted by the Indian Federation of Culinary Association and South Indian Culinary Association, the lounge saw many  top chefs and heads of departments of hospitality academy industry sharing their experience in the
industry.

The expo also proved beneficial for a lot of students of hospitality. Said Krishna, from T John College, “So far we have been studying things in only theory but coming here and speaking to people in the industry, we are getting a better understanding of concepts and also getting exposed to the latest technology that is there in the market.”
