BJP media in-charge S Prakash, who submitted the memorandum, said the City has been on the radar of terrorists and anti-national elements, and features like Street View could be misused for the access they would provide to important places in the City.

Google had launched its plan to collect panoramic images of Bangalore streets for Street View on Google Earth. However, the police had stopped the venture saying they would need a written permission from the Ministry of External Affairs to continue filming. Ashoka said he would consult top police officials and take an appropriate decision on imposing a ban on the project.

No rollback of bus fare

Home Minister R Ashoka, who also holds the transport portfolio, ruled out a rollback of bus fares. “We are ready to withdraw the fare hike, if the Centre agrees to rollback diesel prices,” Ashoka said. He added that the Centre should have consulted the states before hiking diesel prices.
