Sipani, seeded ninth, clinched the under-17 singles title with a upset 21-15, 21-17 win over third-seeded Sankeerth BR in the summit clash. In the doubles section of the under-15 category, the sixth-seeded pair of Sipani and Sankeerth teamed up in style to dismantle Daniel S Farid and Likith A Gowda 21-11, 21-14.
Sipani, who had also marched into the under-15 final with a stunning win over second seed Sudeep Suresh, looked set to grab his third crown but Farid had other plans. The under-15 top seed warded off a stiff threat from Sipani in the first set and cruised to grab the second for a 21-19, 21-15 win.
In the boys’ under-13 category, top seed Rahul Bharadwaj had it easy against tenth-seeded Rohan Kamat for the title.
In the girls’ under-15 and under-13 categories, top seeds Mahima Agarwal and Apeksha Nayak were crowned champions respectively.
Mahima dished out an impressive display to oust second seed Ashwini Bhat 21-14, 21-18 while Apeksha endured a tougher path but came through with a 21-16, 15-21, 22-20 victory.
