...Even as HC seeks explanation from State

The  Akhila Karnataka Prani Daya Sangha of Bangalore had moved the High Court seeking to prevent animal sacrifice at Durga temple of Kushtagi taluk in Koppal district.

The petitioners submitted that the animal sacrifice was a violation of  Karnataka Prevention of Animal Sacrifices Act and Karnataka Prevention of Animal Sacrifices Rules. The petitioners submitted that hundreds of animals are sacrificed at the temple every year.

When the Government sought time to verify the facts, the division bench comprising of Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh directed the State to verify and submit an action plan to prevent the practice.
