<p>The Akhila Karnataka Prani Daya Sangha of Bangalore had moved the High Court seeking to prevent animal sacrifice at Durga temple of Kushtagi taluk in Koppal district.<br /><br />The petitioners submitted that the animal sacrifice was a violation of Karnataka Prevention of Animal Sacrifices Act and Karnataka Prevention of Animal Sacrifices Rules. The petitioners submitted that hundreds of animals are sacrificed at the temple every year.<br /><br />When the Government sought time to verify the facts, the division bench comprising of Chief Justice J S Khehar and Justice H G Ramesh directed the State to verify and submit an action plan to prevent the practice.</p>
