Inspired by popular Bollywood number ‘Tere Bin Mai Yoon Kaise Jiya,’ the Ugly Indians have brought back dust bins, named in the core area of the City. Unlike the unappealing dustbins installed long ago by the erstwhile Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP) and which are now missing, Tere Bins are attractive and user-friendly.

Shopkeepers on MG Road, Brigade Road and Church Street are installing Tere Bins near their shops voluntarily. The success of the Tere Bins has made the job the Palike employees easy too.

Two sponsorships

So far, 70 Tere Bins have been installed in and around MG Road, which the Ugly Indians are supplying to the sponsors. There are two categories of sponsorship cost - In the first category, the sponsor can install Tere Bin at Rs 1,000 and get 100 days of maintenance and in the second category one can get Rs 1,500 where the maintenance will be provided for a year.

The response so far has been tremendous.

Jayaram, Palike’s garbage clearing contractor for Central Bangalore believes that it has helped achieve his target of making the area look clean. Another user of Tere Bin is Karthik, an employee with a private firm, has all praise for the initiative.

Yengaiah, a sweeper is a fan of the Tere Bins, which, according to him, save his time and energy.
