BMTC bus crushes man to death, woman injured

The deceased was identified as Ramanagounda (27) from Kadirenahalli, while the injured Pooja (28), a resident of Yeshvanthpur, is battling for life at MS Ramaiah Hospital.

According to the police, the accident occurred near the TTMC exit point. Ramanagounda got down from a bus near the TTMC as he wanted to catch a bus to Chikkabanavar to attend his relative’s house warming ceremony. Pooja was following him on her way to office at Mattikere, added the police.

According to Abhishek S, a college student, the speeding bus (401 B Hampinagar-Yelahanka) rushing towards the exit point brushed the compound wall while turning left, around 9.45 am. Ramanagounda and Pooja were caught between the bus and the wall.

A large crowd gathered at the spot and pulled out Pooja. By the time they managed to pull out Ramanagouda, he was heavily bleeding. The ear phones of his mobile phone had stuck inside his ears. Both of them were immediately rushed to a hospital.

Doctors declared Ramanagounda brought dead. He was an accountant with a private firm in Indiranagar. He hailed from Kotur village near Dharwad and had come to the City just three months ago. The police have taken the bus driver into custody.

One killed, three injured

In another accident in Madivala traffic police limits, one person was killed while three others, including an astrologer, were injured when a tempo knocked them down near Silk Board Junction flyover on Wednesday morning. The deceased William James (38), a resident of K R Puram, hailed from Villupuram in Tamil Nadu.

According to the police, James, Vasuki (23), a homemaker from Banaswadi, Indrajit (50), an astrologer from Vellupuram and Perumal (25), a software engineer, got down from a bus near the flyover to go to their respective destinations in the City.

The tempo driver lost control over the vehicle and knocked them down. He jumped out of the vehicle and absconded. Soon, a few people, who gathered near the spot, dragged the cleaner Dharma (22) out and thrashed him black and blue mistaking him to be the driver. They handed him over to the police. Dharma told the police he was fast asleep when the accident occurred.
