'Aadhaar' makes a start in Mandya

Deputy Commissioner P C Jaffer, along with wife Mona Mohammed provided the necessary details and symbolically launched the registration of Aadhaar card, here on Friday. They completed the formalities which were registered in the computer at the Head Post Office in Mandya.
Addressing a press conference later, Jaffer said Aadhaar card will become mandatory in future for the people to utilise various schemes of the government. He appealed to the public to utilise the opportunity and register their details at the earliest. Twelve centres have been opened for the purpose in the district. Apart from Head Post Office in Mandya, registrations for Aadhar will begin at all taluk centres and at Bellur, Bharatinagar, Sakkarenagar and at the DC’s office building, he said.

The residents may fill the available application forms and submit it with a xerox copy of necessary documents including address proof, ration card, pan card and other such 29 documents approved by the authorities.

Original documents should be submitted for verification. After computerising the details the Aadhar card would be delivered to the doorstep through post. The cards are being distributed free of cost.

Jaffer opined the successful implementation of the project depends on the interest of the public. 
The project which has already been implemented at other places is a success and would be 100 per cent complete within a year, he opined.
The main objective of Aadhaar card is to streamline the administration system and enable the public to utilise the government benefits without the interference of the middlemen and also prevent misuse of the same. The responsibility of registrations for
Aadhaar cards has been given to Life Care company in the district. Postal Superintendent Nabiraja Ariga, Post master T C Chowdaiah and others were present.
Apart from holidays, registration is being done at head post office on V V Road between 9.30 am and 5.30 pm. Applications are available free of cost.
One of the following documents can be submitted
1. Identity card (passport, pancard, ration card with photograph, voters identity card, driving license) 2. Identity proof (pass book issued by post office, landline telephone bill)  3. Those who do not have the above documents may submit attested letter explaining the relationship with the head of the family.
