Teacher abducted, gang-raped and killed

The body of the victim, Kumuda (28), a government primary school teacher at Basavanapura near Ramanagar was traced at Honnudike hand post near Tumkur on Sunday.

One person, identified as Narasimha, has been arrested, while search has been intensified to nab the three other accused - Ravi, Raveesh and Manjunath, said the Bidadi police.

She was staying with her husband Appaji and father Umesh.

According to the police, Kumuda, a resident of Chatra near Bidadi, used to go to the school by bus.

Strangled

She was waiting for a bus on Saturday morning at the Chatra bus stop.

The accused, who came in a car, requested her to get in as they would drop her at her school. She failed to understand the intention of the accused and got into the car.
A few minutes later, the accused took a diversion and drove towards Tumkur. When protested, they gang raped her and strangled her to death, with a cloth.

They robbed her gold jewellry and threw the body at Honnudike hand post and fled, added the police.

Police complaint

When Kumuda did not return even till late in the evening, her father Umesh grew suspicious and lodged a complaint with the police.

The police swung into action and questioned a few persons near the Bidadi bus stop.
They told the the police that they spotted Kumuda travel by a car along with four persons.

Based on other information, the police secured Narasimha for interrogation. He spilled the beans when the police drilled him.

The police took Narasimha along with them, and found the body at Honnudike hand post, sources said.
