Biradar, who was on patrol duty, was diverted to the spot. <br /><br />On reaching the spot, Sunil Kumar claimed, Biradar found that the boy was being manhandled by the public and in a bid to save him from them, he drove off with the boy in the latter’s car. “Biradar was speeding to avoid any more problems and ran into the 11-year-old. The boy has fractured his limb,” Kumar said.<br /><br />Refusing to admit that Biradar was drunk, the police said: “The college student was in an inebriated state. Biradar was not drunk, we have got the medical tests done.”<br /><br />After Biradar hit the boy, bystanders assaulted the constable and the student.<br />It was only after the intervention of other police officers that the situation came under control.<br /><br /></p>
