Ban on roadside eateries in Ch'nagar

Last Updated 14 July 2011, 17:22 IST

The hotel owners should maintain cleanliness and hygiene in their premises and those selling mutton, chicken and fish at open places should close their shops.

The roadside shops are causing inconvenience to pedestrians. Though clarification letters have already been issued to hotel owners of the city, they have not done necessary changes in this regard, stated a release from CMC.

The CMC had directed the mutton shops to sell meat  in covered glass containers. But they are still being sold in open and the leftovers are being dumped into drains, polluting the environment. Apart from clogging the drains they are emanating unbearable stench and may lead to spread of contagious diseases.

It has warned that the shopkeepers violating the rules and causing pollution to immediately adhere to the rules. The traders and hotel owners should treat this release as a final warning letter, otherwise their trade licenses would be cancelled  legal action on the violators, said CMC president Bhagyamma.
