On Monday, A Krishna Swamy, retired Chief Conservator of Forests, said BBMP was incapable of maintaining the City’s environment and greenery.
“Cutting trees was a disastrous decision, especially because they were very old,” said Swamy. He was speaking at an award ceremony organised by Karnataka Forest Department and the B Marappa Memorial Trust at Aranya Bhavan, wherein eight forest department personnel were feted.
Swamy said, “If the cutting of trees continues, a day will come when the City will have no trees.” Barren land should not be given to industries and be converted into grazing fields.
