He was speaking to reporters after a surprise visit to the Chigateri District General Hospital.
The new Act provides for free medical treatment to 33 per cent of the patients, especially the below poverty line (BPL) card holders.
Medico-legal cases
These hospitals must admit medico-legal cases without denial. The names of government doctors serving in private hospitals should be boldly displayed at such hospitals, Ramdas said. The hospitals must also display the price list for treatments and provide Kannada version of case sheets if the patient demands.
The minister claimed that the new Act would herald a new era in the history of medical services in the State.
