Power generation was stopped in March 2011 due to inadequate water in the reservoir. In April-May, one unit worked when some water was released.
The inflow into the reservoir has increased over the past two days due to copious rain. On Tuesday, 42,000 cusecs water was released as the reservoir is expected to be full soon.
The power generated is connected to the Mahalingapur-Basavanabagewadi ‘D’ receiving grid.
People living in low-lying areas have been asked to move to safer areas as water in the reservoir may reach the maximum level soon and water may be released from the dam.
