He has also decided to complain to Lokayukta police if any irregularities are found.
He was speaking after felicitating the JD(S) candidates who have won the elections for the Agriculture Produce Marketing Committee (APMC) in the city on Wednesday.

Reality check

“Legislator Varthur Prakash has been claiming very often that the district achieved significant progress in the last three years. But, a reality check will reveal that his claims are baseless.”

“It is nothing less than a joke to say Varthur invested money from his own pocket, apart from the MLA’s fund, in the development works,” Gowda criticised.

‘Leaders purchased’

He further alleged that Varthur took the politics in the JD(S) to crescendo by “purchasing the JD(S) leaders.”

Varthur, who criticised the JD(S)-Congress tie-up in the APMC polls, forgot that he did the same thing in 2008 elections. The poll verdict- in which JD(S) won nine and the Congress three seats- has itself proved Varthur wrong, he added.

He called upon the party activists to lay seize to the residences of those who won the elections to the Taluk Primary Agriculture and Rural Development Co-operative Bank on JD(S) tickets and shifted their alliance later to follow Varthur.

“If you spot them anywhere, charge them with no hesitation,” he fumed. If they were in favour of Varthur, they should quit their posts and contest again, he added.

He alleged many real estate agents have entered the politics, polluting the political life in the constituency. Several steps would be initiated to check widespread corruption in the taluk, he said.

Leaders Naganala Somanna, Holali Prakash, Aphros Pasha and Ramu were present on the occasion.
