<p>The new Companies Bill, 2009, stipulates that every individual intending to be appointed as director of a company will have to make an application for allotment of DIN to the central government. <br /><br />Interestingly the Bill proposes that every person proposed to be appointed as a director by the company in general meeting or otherwise must furnish his DIN and a declaration that he is not disqualified to become a director under the new Companies Act. <br /><br />Further, the new Bill stipulates that the government will issue the DIN within one month from the receipt of the application for allotment of the DIN.</p>
