Pak selector in controversy for including players in camp

The sudden inclusion of some players who have no notable performances in domestic cricket in the camp has put the pressure on the former Test opener.

Asked for his views on how these players got accommodated in the camp, Mohsin told reporters he was not involved in the late inclusion of some players in the camp.
But that has only led to former Test players questioning that if the chief selector is not even authorised to decide who will attend the camp than what is the purpose of having the paid national selection committee in the first place.

"If the chief selector is not aware who is being included in the camp than what is the job of the selectors after all," former Test batsman Basit Ali said.

To make matters worse, sources in the board have confirmed that the PCB has also decided to clip the powers of the selection committee by not involving them in the final selection and categorisation of players who will get new central contracts soon.

"The selectors used to first not only recommend a list of names but also categorize them for the contracts but now the board has told the selectors to just send them a shortlist of players and the board will then trim it down and categorize the players," one source said.
The inclusion of the son of the President of the Hyderabad Cricket Association Mir Ali Talpur in the fast track camp has caused the most controversy in Pakistani cricket circles as the youngster's performance is not up to mark compared to some other players
