Sri Krishna Maasotsav at Udupi from Aug 13

 Speaking to the media here on Monday, Paryaya Puttige mutt Seer Sri Sugunendratheertha Swamiji informed that according to lunar system, Sri Krishna Jayanthi will be celebrated on August 13 and according to solar system, the festival will be celebrated on September 11. To make the festival a ‘Naada Habba,’ the Paryaya mutt has decided to celebrate both the festivals by holding a month-long ‘Sri Krishna Maasotsav’ at the temple, he said. The seer said that the month-long celebration will be inaugurated by BJP MP and former Union Minister Ananthkumar on August 13 while Janmastami celebration will be inaugurated by BJP senior leader and party MP Sushma Swaraj on September 11. Several dignitaries including Union Ministers S M Krishna, M Veerappa Moily, Delhi Chief Minister Sheela Dixit, and Goa Chief Minister Digambar Kamath besides several other ministers from Karnataka have been invited to take part in the month long celebration, he added.

During the month-long festival, several renowned musicians and artistes will give their performances. Renowned musician R K Padmanabhan will be conferred with ‘Asthaan Vidwan’ award by the mutt on September 11.

Sri Krishna Leelotsav will be held on September 12, the seer said. Various competitions on various subjects related to Lord Sri Krishna including tiger dance competition, churning of curd, and Rangoli will also be held, he said adding that ‘Sahasra Sri Krishna Darshan’ (1,000 child Krishna fancy dress) and ‘Swagatham Krishna,’ two special programmes besides special discourses by the scholars have also been organised.
