Two ultras killed, ULFA camp busted, bomb recovered in Assam

According to police, an area commander and bomb expert of militant outfit National Democratic Front of Bodoland was killed in an encounter with security forces at Gogamukh in Dhemaji district.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of police and army launched an operation in the area in which the militant, identified as Bhim Boro alias Gandhi, was killed while two others managed to escape.

A 7.65 pistol, four rounds of live cartridges, a grenade and extortion notes were recovered from his possession.

In a separate joint encounter by army and police, another NDFB ultra was killed at Monabari tea estate in Sonitpur district, sources said.

After receiving specific information that NDFB militants were hiding in the tea estate to disrupt Independence Day celebrations in the state, security forces launched an operation in the area yesterday.

One militant was killed in an encounter this morning, while others managed to escape.
A M-20 pistol with four rounds of ammunitions and a motorcycle were recovered from the encounter site.
