<p>Chikkanna Shetty of Bilugali village had allegedly set his wife Rathnamma ablaze on May 6, 2009, after robbing her off valuables. A binge drinker, Chikkanna picked up a quarrel with his wife when the latter refused to give him money. In her dying declaration Rathnamma had accused her husband of setting her on afire. Rathnamma succumbed a few days later.<br />The court also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the guilty and ordered him to undergo additional imprisonment of three months if he failed to pay the fine, said a release from public prosecutor K Govindaraju.<br /></p>
