Govt to provide Rs 2,546 cr under TUFS within 3 days: Maran

TUFS assists different segments of the textile industry to modernise through installation of new and state-of-the-art machines.
"...the government will provide Rs 2,546 crore under TUFS within 72 hours," Textile Minister Dayanidhi Maran told reporters here.
He said that about 12,500 people will benefit from the fund and the money would be disbursed electronically through 121 lending institutions including banks.
Maran further said that the government has constituted a 41-member working group to formulate the National Fibre Policy.
"....Textiles Secretary Rita Menon will be the Chairperson of the working group. The group would submit its final report to the ministry within three months" he added.
To make Indian fibres globally competitive, the government is preparing a National Fibre Policy, which is likely to be unveiled by the end of the year.
