A reflection of youth

John Players has an impressive line of formal wear. You will find that the designers have taken care to make every piece of garment appear different. Metrolife interacted with Atul Chand, Divisional Chief Executive, ITC Lifestyle Retailing Business Division to get a deeper insight into the creations.

The design team at John Players points out that striped designs have always been subtle enough to look smart yet classic. John Players formal wear collection this season has interesting styled striped design shirts, keeping in mind the semi-formal look and this seems to have been well-received by the people. Apart from striped shirts, the line also has a fair share of plain and checks.

Delving into the finer details, the design team observes that the young prefer stylised semi-formal shirts for office wear. There is a whole range of mix and match slim fit shirts with innovative collar patterns giving it a peppier, fresher and younger feel. “The entire range is defined by fine fabrics, classic styles, modest colours and best fits. The formal wear this season is a reflection of the exclusively styled garment demanded by today’s youth to suit their multinational working environment. We are sure the variety in the collection will cater to the individual needs and preferences of the new age professional,” informs Atul.

There are also half-sleeved shirts in the formal wear section that can be worn in different styles. One can layer it with a T-shirt inside or even with a nice scarf around the neck.

These shirts could also be teamed with skinny ties or suspenders to display a more distinctive and elegant look.

Apart from formal slot, there is a party wear segment which is also popular. The brand has used a range of high sheen, satin and fine quality fabric for the collection. It also has an exclusive linen collection for informal gatherings. The kurta style shirts, slim fit shirts, short shirts are also in vogue. The party wear comes in maroon, blue, emerald, green and brown. “The refreshingly new casual wear range adds a dimension to edgy styling and infuses it with new age cuts and fits, replete with an eclectic colour palette for the flamboyant and assured youth of today,” says Atul.

Accessorising comes next and the team at John Players feels that for formal meetings and interviews one must wear a tie. They point out that the belt should always match the footwear. Slimmer belts look more updated and it’s always best to complement the tie design with the shirts.
