Shifting Telgi to Pune prison opposed

Last Updated 07 August 2011, 17:39 IST

Telgi’s nephew Irfan Telgi told Deccan Herald over phone from Khanapur that Prison Chief Superintendent T S Lakshminarayan was preparing to transfer Telgi to Pune prison.

Telgi’s health is deteriorating and he cannot travel from Bangalore to Pune. There is no correspondence in this regard even from Pune prison, he alleged.

“The court in Mumbai where Telgi is to be produced did not have a judge for the past eight months and also he has pleaded guilty in the case. If anything happens to Telgi during the travel, authorities concerned are to be blamed,” Irfan Telgi said.

The Karnataka High Court has observed that Karim Telgi cannot travel due to his deteriorating health and should be produced in court through video conferencing, he said.
