Speaking after conducting an inspection of the Child Development Office here, Shyamala said that complaints had been lodged against irregularities in appointment of Anganwadi workers. “An inquiry will be conducted against the alleged irregularities and action will be initiated,” she added.

“Off the 63,327 Anganwadi Kendras in the State, only 34,000 Kendras have their own building. The Government has released Rs 30 crore for the construction of 800 new buildings for the Kendras,” she said and added that Rs 3,000 crore was required to construct building for every Anganwadi Kendras in the State.

Funds

In future, Anganwadi Kendra buildings will be constructed with funds from RIDF, SGP, Gram Udyog, Zilla and Taluk Panchayats, she added.

There are reports about Anganwadi workers reporting to work late, Shyamala said and directed CDPO to take necessary action.

Complaints have also been lodged about nutritious food being given to non-eligible persons, she added.
