The first of the many colourful activities

Popular actor and director Sihi Kahi Chandru, an alumnus of the college, was the chief guest. He inaugurated the sports and cultural activities and felt nostalgic about entering his alma mater after 30 years. “It’s a memorable day for me and I won’t forget this day throughout my life. I am proud to say that this college laid the foundation of my career. A window at the Chemistry’s lab was my favourite place where I used to sit with a group of friends,” he said. He recalled that he was the president of the student union and was very active in all the extra-curricular activities of the college.

Sihi Kahi Chandru, who is popular for his comic roles, entertained the students with his real-life experiences. He advised the students to follow the ‘4D’ formula (Dream, Dedication, Determination and Discipline) to achieve success in life.

Geetha Shrinivasan, the principal of degree college, remarked that the institution has been providing equal importance to both curricular and extra-curricular activities. The members of the student union took an oath to keep the name of the institution high.
The stage was then set for cultural activities as part of the freshers’ day celebrations.

Udeepana, the cultural forum of the students, was inaugurated and the students showcased their talents in various dance and musical events.

The celebrations started with a group dance by Smrithi and group. With their beautiful classical presentation, the three girls left the audience asking for more. Up next was a bharatanatyam performance by Preethi Prasad who mesmerised the crowd with her perfect steps and facial expressions.

Later on stage was Manasi and group who enthralled the audience with their energetic performance. The girls performed a fusion dance to some old and new Hindi songs like Hoton Pe Aisi Baat, Babuji Dheere Chalna, DK Bose, Senorita and others.

Bhavana chose to sing a Tyagaraja krithi while Deepika performed a solo dance. Meanwhile, many activities were conducted to select the ‘Mr and Ms Fresher of the Year’.

After completing all the tasks, Ashrith P C and Akshatha emerged as ‘Mr and Ms Fresher’ respectively from first PUC and Jagadish and Swathi M S from first year degree bagged the title of ‘Mr and Ms Fresher’ respectively.
