A five-page suspension letter was served on the 1988 batch IPS officer saying that he had been unauthorisedly absent from duty and accusing him of misuse of official machinery.
The suspension followed several months of run-in with the Modi government after Bhatt filed an affidavit in March this year before the Supreme court alleging that Modi in a crucial law and order meeting on February 27, 2002 had ordered officials to go slow on rioters. Bhatt claimed he was present at the meeting when Modi issued the orders.
