<p>In a letter dated August 5, 2011, she asked the university to take immediate action and all necessary steps to ensure completion of the administrative block of the PG centre. <br /><br />Accordingly, BU Registrar (Administration) R M Ranganath stated, an order would be issued to take up the work immediately. <br /><br />Irregularities alleged<br /><br />The PG centre project had run into trouble when a few members of the Syndicate, BU’s highest decision-making body, alleged irregularities in allotting the work to the original contractor without taking the necessary approval. <br /><br />They also charged the university authorities with issuing the work orders at an inflated rate. Following a representation by them, V S Acharya, Minister for Higher Education, wrote a letter to Rao, directing her to instruct the university to stop the work immediately. <br /><br />Accordingly, the BU Syndicate stopped the work. <br /><br />The Minister also directed the Principal Secretary to take steps to suspend the Registrar (Administration) for issuing the work order. <br /><br />Rao’s latest letter allowing for completion of the unfinished work has come as a huge relief to the university. <br /><br /></p>
