Handloom expo

Krishna Kadhi Gramdyog Sanstan Agra is organising the ‘National Art and Craft Handloom Expo’ at Karnataka Chitrakala Parishat, Kumara Krupa Road till August 14. The purpose behind organising su­ch exposition is to help the handicraft and handloom artisans to reach out to the masses directly. The expo will have marble crafts, carpets, beds­heets, glass jewellery from Pu­rdilnagar, pottery from Kh­u­rja, terracotta, metal craf­ts from Aligarh and Moradabad, durries from Agra, furniture from Saharanpur, wood work from Nageena, saris from Var­anasi, woollen sha­wls, dress material from Kashmir etc.
 
Soothing notes

‘The Brooklyn Bridge’

WatercolorskyTheatre, a Bangalore based theatre company, will be staging 'The Brooklyn Bridge' on August 13 and 14, 7.30 pm at K H Kalasoudha, Hanumantha Nagar. ‘The Brooklyn Bridge’ revolves around the  lives of those who were involved in the construction of the bridge.  It explores the effect of it on the body, the psychology of the mind, the emotions in a relationship and its effect on the social and political situation. ‘Nada Chintana’

Mahati Cultural Academy is organising Nada Chintana, a lecture demonstration on kriti and raga by noted musician and recipient of many awards R K Padmanabha.  The event will be held on August 14, 10.30 am at Mahati Gyana Mandira, 2718/6, 3rd Cross, Sirur Park Road, Malles­waram.

‘Karimaayi’

Academy of Music will be staging the play Karimaayi by Spandana group and directed by B Jayashree at the Chowdiah Memorial Hall on August 13, 6.30 pm.

Vocal recital

Interesting fusion

Toccata is holding ‘Nostalgia 2011’, music concert at Bishop Cottons Boys School Auditorium on August 13, 7 pm. Award-winning musicians from the UK and India are coming together to create a unique fusion of the most popular Western music of the past 50 years, promising a mesmerising music concert.

The bharata­natyam arangetram of Kruthika B Jayakumar, who is the disciple of Mithun Shyam, will be held on August 14, 10.30 am at ADA Rangamandira, J C Road.

Bharatanatyam

The Indian Council for Cultural Relations, in collaboration with Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, will be presenting a bharata­natyam dance recital under the ‘Horizon Series’ on August 13, 6.30 pm at The Khincha Auditorium, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan.

It will feature bharatanatyam exponent Subhashini Vasanth, an empanelled artiste of the ICCR and Director, Vasantharatna Foundation for Art.
