Ramakrishna, 40, allegedly threw himself before the running train along with his son Shwethaiah. People noticed the badly mutilated bodies in the morning and informed the police.

After further inquiry, police ascertained their identities. Ramakrishna’s family members told police that he was neck-deep in debt.

In another incident, Ashwini (26), a nurse, was also found hanging at her relative’s place in East End Road near Tilaknagar, on Monday. Some dispute in the family is said to be the reason for the suicide.

Three drown

Three youths from the City drowned at Velankanni, a pilgrim centre in Tanjavur district of Tamil Nadu. Bhaskar (23), Sanjay (25) and Ravi (26), all residents of Hale Byappanahalli in the City, had been to Velankanni for a weekend outing.

Beaten to death

Srikanth, 26, was beaten to death at the Centre for Manufacturing Technology and Institute (CMTI) in the City on Sunday night.

Police said Srikanth, a businessman and resident of CMTI residential quarters, quarreled frequently with Sharmila, an administrative officer at the CMTI. Sharmila had complained to her husband Ramesh Babu.

Srikanth was allegedly assaulted by Babu, his brother  Ravi and a relative, Raghuraman. All three are absconding.

Police pursuing suspects

The four special teams formed by the City police to hunt down the culprits involved in the recent jewellery heist in Basavanagudi, are pursuing the suspects outside Karnataka as well.

Rajesh, owner of VBS Gold and Diamond Works on R V Road, who was injured in the incident, has been discharged from the hospital.

He has provided some vital leads to the police and also described the physical appearance of the robbers.

Rajesh was attacked with long machetes by three unidentified persons when he was leaving for home after work on Wednesday night.

A pink bag containing jewellery worth Rs two crore was snatched from him. Since Rajesh was attacked near the staircase of the factory, the CCTVs installed could not capture the attack.

Sources said the police are not ruling out the involvement of Rajesh’s brother in the heist, since the two did not get along well. However, DCP (South) Sonia Narang said Rajesh’s brother was among the many people who had provided information and clues to the police and refused to confirm if the interaction with him could be termed “questioning and grilling”.

It is learnt that police also are looking for the culprits in Andhra Pradesh.
