'I never planned on changing my image'

Varied Roles

Now, the actor has signed on a new Kannada film, Naanalla, that will see him breaking the lover boy image that he is known for on screen.

Tarun says that he has no insecurity in breaking that image and feels that the change will be welcomed by his fans. “I have always believed in attempting different kinds of roles. Yes, people have known me for the lover boy image but I never planned on changing it,” says Tarun.

So what made the actor take that decision? “After hearing this script, I felt that this role will be something that I have never attempted in my entire career. That’s why when the director (Dinesh Baboo) approached me with the script, I couldn’t refuse it. But this does not mean that I will not do romantic roles anymore,” says Tarun, who wants to maintain the curiosity about his role in the film.

Getting an opportunity to work with director Dinesh Baboo is something Tarun considers an honour. And in the process of shooting for Ondu Kshanadalli and Naanalla, the actor says that he has learnt so much about film-makers.

“He is what you call a perfectionist. I have worked with so many young directors and they have all been great but with Dinesh, the experience has been very different. His planning is  perfect and that’s why he manages to finish the film in such a short time. The real surprise was the fact that he has such a great sense of humour and very approachable. Working back-to-back with him is an experience I’ll never forget,” says Tarun.

Ondu Kshanadalli talks about a decision that the protagonist takes and that will change his entire life in that very moment. “Almost every individual has faced that situation at some point of their life. Even I have faced it in my life. There was a time when I was focussed on taking up Science after my 10th standard but when I was running around for a seat, I decided to change to Commerce. At that point, my whole life changed,” he explains.

“Though this is a love story, in this film, the love story only begins at the end of the film and that makes the story all the more interesting, he adds.”

Soon, he will be seen in another love story, Achchu Machchu. Tarun, who plays a college student in that, says that his look and the character is that of a very confident and stylish guy who is sure of what he wants in life.

With so many films in his kitty, one wonders if Tarun ever plans to venture out to other film industries as well.

“Right now, I am busy in Kannada and my priority will always be this film industry. But I have not ruled out the options. If I do get a good script that I am confident about, why not?” he asks.
